Philippe Berry
Born in Paris on May 18th, 1956
Philippe Berry has two siblings: Richard and Marie-Claire.
1973 At the age of 17, he starts his studies at the Ecole Supérieure d'Arts Graphiques Penninghen in Paris. He begins as a textile designer for children. Then he becomes a layout artist for a advertising agency.
1979 At the age of 23, he created his first movie poster. ('Il faut tuer Birgit Haas', by Laurent Heynneman with Philippe Noiret and Jean Rochefort) and others like 'Aphrodite' with Valérie Kaprisky, 'Nestor Burma' with Michel Serrault et Jane Birkin, 'Nuit d'ivresse' with Josiane Balasko, among others.
1989 He stops his advertising ambitions to devote himself solely to painting. However, he did create some theater designs ('L’ex-femme de ma vie ' at the Splendid and at the Gymnase, 'Cuisine et dépendances' by Jean-Pierre Bacri and Agnès Jaoui at the Fontaine Theater…)
1990 He meets Marie-Hélène Montenay with whom he has his first exhibition for watercolor drawings. (text by Bernard Lamarche-Vadel). Two years later, encouraged by Marie-Hélène, he starts sculpting. His first pieces are shown at the FIAC in 1993.
Currently lives and works in Paris
